Bolton Begins Construction of UHU’s New Sustainable Production Centre in Germany, Creating an International Adhesive Hub

Construction begins on UHU's sustainable production centre in Germany, with the first foundation stone having been laid on November 7.

A new chapter is beginning for UHU, our historic Adhesive Brand, with the laying of the foundation stone for the future production plant in Rheinmünster. This is yet another step in our strategy for growth and industrial innovation in Europe.

Thanks to this important operation, we’ll consolidate our role as a world leader in the adhesives sector, focusing on a modern, efficient, and sustainable production platform.

The Rheinmünster plant will be ready by 2027 and will grant a production capacity of 170 million products annually. It’s a great achievement that will provide a modern platform for the Group's growth and development.

Special attention has been kept for green practices: not only will this centre be an innovative facility, but it will also represent a beacon of sustainability. The plant will be 100% powered by electricity, it will not use fossil fuels, and instead it will make extensive use of solar energy, to the point that, compared to the current production site, energy consumption is expected to be reduced by 50%. Moreover, the entire facility is designed to achieve the Gold Standard certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), contributing to Bolton’s climate goals.

This investment is also part of our internationalisation strategy, aimed at strengthening our global presence and creating solid growth prospects for the future.

As Bolton CEO, Roberto Leopardi said:

This new plant is not only the start of a production hub, but also a symbol of how we are turning our vision into reality: by investing in long-term growth, innovation, and the communities that accompany us on our journey.”

The new plant will be a state-of-the-art production hub, with a high degree of automation and strong integration between production and logistics. This way, it will streamline processes and improve safety and comfort in the workplace, and also eliminate internal transport between the current Bühl plant and the logistics warehouse.

The expected result will be a significant increase in efficiency and a significant reduction in traffic, ultimately benefiting both Bolton and the environment, because, as our Bolton Chairwoman, Marina Nissim, has stated:

"We believe that the future must be built on respect: for those who choose our products every day, for the environment, and for the people who work with us. Our new plant brings together innovation, technology, sustainability, and passion. It represents our confidence in the continued potential of our brands and our commitment to providing our employees with a cutting-edge, sustainable workplace that truly acts for the future."

Congratulations to all the people behind this outstanding project: the new Rheinmünster hub will represent a perfect blend of technological innovation, attention to the environment, and respect for people.
