Shared Strength And Heritage: Hercules Arrives In Bolton
We are once again strengthening our connection with the city of Milan with a symbol of strength itself. After joining the 2018 “Adopt a Spire” project, we’re now supporting the “Adopt a Statue” project to partner with Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano.
At Bolton, we deeply value our shared heritage with the city of Milan, even more so when we get to take care of an actual piece of it.
We are proud to announce that we have again adopted a piece of Milan’s Duomo, the statue of Hercules, to support its conservation and restoration in collaboration with Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano.
Bolton was founded in Milan and maintains a deep connection with this city. This is where our roots lie, and this is where we continue to build our future. That is why we are particularly proud to have supported the Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo’s ‘Adopt a Statue’ project, helping to preserve and highlight one of the city’s most extraordinary symbols. Restoring this work to its former splendor means safeguarding an important part of Milan’s history, art, and identity, making it accessible and vibrant once again for residents and visitors alike. We like to think that this statue continues to convey, today as in the past, values of strength, courage, and determination: timeless values that are part of our community’s cultural heritage and that continue to speak to present and future generations.
A Shared Responsibility For A Shared Heritage
For centuries, Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano has cared for the conservation and enhancement of the Cathedral, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.
That’s why, back in 2018, we supported the “Adopt a Spire” project for the care and preservation of the cathedral’s 135 spires, the monument’s most iconic features, by adopting the Gugliotto Cesa Bianchi spire dedicated to Saint Joachim.
Now, through the “Adopt a Statue” project, companies and private individuals can support the restoration of selected statues removed from the Cathedral for conservation reasons, adopting them on loan and displaying them at the donor’s premises for a limited time.
Bolton’s decision to adopt Hercules reflects our desire to contribute to the protection of a heritage that belongs to everyone. It is also a way to reinforce the bond with Milan, the city where Bolton’s Headquarters are located and where the company has grown for more than 75 years.
The Duomo’s heritage is part of Milan’s history and continues to speak to the city through works that, thanks to the efforts of the Veneranda Fabbrica and the support of private sponsors, can be restored and made visible once again. Bolton’s sponsorship of the Hercules statue demonstrates just how important collaboration between institutions, businesses, and cultural organizations is for preserving and showcasing what makes Milan unique. It is a concrete gesture, made all the more significant because it comes from a company founded here and that has always been closely tied to the city, helping to strengthen the bond between culture, community, and business that is part of Milan’s past and present.
Why Hercules?
In mythology, Hercules embodies strength and courage in the service of a mission. His figure therefore offers a powerful symbol for our company: a strength that is not an end in itself, but becomes care, listening and responsibility towards our communities, our people and the millions of homes we enter with our brands every day.
With this adoption, we hope to make our culture of care even more tangible, a proper reminder (and greeter) at our very own doors for Boltonians, visitors and everyone to enjoy and feel inspired by.
From The Cathedral To Via Pirelli
The arrival of Hercules at Via Pirelli was marked by an intimate ceremony on 21 September 2026, attended by Bolton’s Global Leadership Team and a select group of representatives from Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano and local institutions.
We look forward to seeing Boltonians and guests cherish its beauty, a shared symbol of pride and belonging and, most importantly, a reminder that caring for the places and stories around us is one way to make a difference, every day.
