Water Resources

Water is an important ingredient in many of our products and plays a vital role in many production processes, from cooling to cleaning.
Our aim is to manage water resources responsibly by improving the efficiency of our water use and ensuring that any water we discharge is appropriately treated.

Our Water Management Approach

Bolton is working to calculate its corporate water footprint and develop a structured water management strategy. As part of this process, we have assessed water-related risks and opportunities at a site level, identifying priority locations for targeted action. By 2028, we are committed to conducting water audits and developing improvement plans for all sites located in water-stressed areas or presenting high operational water risks.

Water Efficiency as a Pillar for Operational Excellence

Thanks to better monitoring, we are increasingly committed to prevent water losses. We have also carried out two audits in areas experiencing water stress: at our food production facilities in Agadir, Morocco, and Aprilia, Italy. These audits have enabled us to define specific improvement plans.

How We Steward Water in Products

Bolton's Ingredients and Raw Materials Policy includes specific provisions to protect aquatic environments and prevent water pollution. In our Home Care, Personal Care, and Beauty product lines, we restrict the use of substances — such as certain nanomaterials — that may affect the ecological and chemical quality of surface waters.

As of our latest reporting period, 89.6% of the ingredients used in our Home Care, Personal Care, and Beauty products are biodegradable, in line with recognised scientific assessment methods.
