Committed to Nature
Creating Value Through Responsible Growth
We recognise that natural resources are finite and that healthy ecosystems, including oceans and land, are essential to our operations and supply chains. To reduce the environmental footprint of our products, we focus on four key areas: reducing greenhouse gas emissions; implementing circular economy principles to optimise resource use; ensuring responsible fishing practices and, managing water consumption responsibly.
Actions to Reduce our Impact on the Climate
During the COP 28 in Dubai, countries recognised the urgent need to tackle climate change. They agreed to accelerate global efforts by 2030, focusing on reducing emissions and supporting vulnerable countries. Bolton acknowledges the importance of accurately measuring greenhouse gas emissions and driving decarbonisation efforts along its value chains.
Transforming Business Through Circularity
As a company committed to corporate responsibility, we emphasize integrating circular principles into our operations, products, and supply chains. This circular transformation is crucial for addressing challenges like climate change and biodiversity loss.
Sustainability Commitments
We develop products and branded solutions that support more responsible consumption choices in everyday life. The value generated through our business is distributed among our shareholders, reinvested in our employees and the communities in which we operate, and invested in initiatives aimed at reducing our environmental impact.
Our Approach to Water Stewardship
Water is a critical resource across our value chain — from R&D and product formulation to manufacturing and consumer use. Given the growing risks of water scarcity linked to climate change and population growth, responsible water management is a material issue for our business.
We have expanded our water strategy to encompass both ocean and freshwater stewardship. Our current focus areas include: assessing water-related impacts at our production sites; integrating water management targets into our corporate strategy; defining measurable freshwater objectives; and improving water efficiency across our operations.
Responsible Fishing Practices
Our fishing operations in the Western and Eastern Pacific oceans are conducted in accordance with recognised fisheries management standards. Our practices include bycatch reduction measures and Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) management protocols, applied across our fishing activities.
Collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF®)
Since 2017, Bolton and WWF® have maintained a formal partnership focused on promoting responsible seafood sourcing. As part of this collaboration, Bolton works to source canned seafood from fisheries that meet defined sustainability criteria, including commitments to the long-term management of tuna stocks, legal compliance and supply chain traceability.
